Woke up at 1045am today.Had a wonderful night, but my eye brown and nose bones were still aching.I think it's a blue black.I hit my face when i was at my cousin's house 2 weeks ago. I closed the refrigerator door when my head was still within the circumference of the door movement.
Even before i get to eat my branch, my handphone rang.The number was one that i have not seen before.
It was my cousin's friend working in maha budhi school.The school needed a relief teacher to replace a teacher who took mc.I think the teachers always call last minute for mc or leave, so the staff had to get a relief teacher last minute. Shouldnt the teachers call afew hours before the afternoon section starts? What if the staff couldnt get a relief teacher in time?
She called at 12pm and expected me to meet her at 12.45pm at the school's general office. Have neither eaten nor bathed nor packed my stuff, and it's all the way down at ubi,eunos link.
Moreover, i waited for more than 15minutes for bus 15 to arrive.While walking to the bus stop, i realised that i had no more money in my EZ-link card,i didnt have enough coins, and i forgot to bring my precious water bottle. Boarded the bus at 12.40pm.The driver was very nice.He allowed me to board the bus even though i didnt have enough coins. I reached school at 1pm. The students were still having assembly.
I had to teach them english, maths and social studies.The class was extremely noisy!Maybe because i've not been in the classroom setting for a long time.The students were complaining that their friends hit them,pulled their hair,knocked down their water bottles and accidentally spoiled them.While trying to get silence from one side of the class, another was making a whole lot of noise.Then, when i went over the other side, the previous side continued making noise.Much of the noise was actually made by students who raised their voice to silent the class and requested to write on the board to ask the class to keep quiet. Told them to sit down but they continued doing so.I think in most classes, there will sure be a bully who goes around disturbing,irritating other students.There was one in the class that i taught.He simply didnt want to sit still, nor listened to others,including me, who asked him to go back to his seat.He first started hitting and disturbing others,and they were so annoyed that they hit him back and tore his notebook.
I really had a headache cos of my blue black on my face,didnt eat since i woke up.However so, i managed to get them to do some work.
For english, they had to pick at least 5 useful words from the 2nd story of their storybooksin groups of 5. For maths, i got some of them to get to the front to do sums on the board and awarded some marks to their groups when they have done the sums correctly.Upon seeing the sums on the board,more then 5 students came to the front and requested to do them.Without paying attention to my instructions,some of them from the same group requested to do the sums.I actually wanted a student from each group to race to the front and see who was the first and does the sum correctly,so that i can award additional marks.Still, i picked students who raised their hands first.I could wait for school to end when i was teaching at 2plus 3pm.It finally got to the end when i relief teach them social studies for the last lesson.Some requested to pack up their bag at 610pm when school was dismissed at 620p. So gang chiong.The rest was still playing, that i had to go round the class to ask them to read their textbook.
Today was the first time teaching primary school kids.I think i need to learn how to teach in a classroom setting.
